BMW F 450 GS: A new mini adventure bike, the clearest glimpse ever
BMW has recently released the design filings of the production model of its new adventure bike F 450 GS. This is the same bike that was introduced as a concept model at the EICMA show in November last year. At that time it was just a glimpse, but now we have got clear and complete information about its production version.
This bike is especially for those riders who want a slightly higher option than the G 310 GS and a slightly lighter and smaller option than the F 800/900 GS. F 450 GS is coming out as a new mid segment adventure bike.

What has changed in the design?
Some important changes have been made in the production version compared to the concept model. Now it has added important production elements like rear-view mirrors, turn indicators, and passenger foot pegs, which were not in the concept. The bike now gets five-spoke cast wheels, which look similar to the F 900 R.
The bodywork is largely the same as before, but there are some minor changes. The windscreen is now in a completely different shape, and the trim above the BMW logo has become a little smaller and plainer.
Talking about the rear of the bike, the external steel tubing has now been replaced by full body paneling. Also, there are now pannier mounting points and a re-routed exhaust system, which provides more space at the rear – especially for luggage and passengers.
Features that grab attention
The BMW F 450 GS has features like all-LED lighting, color TFT display and Bluetooth connectivity. A rotary jog dial is also seen with the display which makes menu navigation easier.
This model has both safety and performance features which includes ABS brake system, traction control, and even customizable riding modes. These will make the riding experience more safe and controlled.
Engine and performance
It has a 450cc parallel twin engine which produces approximately 48 brake horsepower and a torque of 45Nm. This engine comes with a 6-speed gearbox. BMW says that this engine will not only give performance, but it will also have a special kind of “character” which riders will like.
Chassis and suspension
Like the other models from the series, the F 450 GS is also made on the steel trellis frame which features USD forks and a monoshock rear suspension. The bike has 19-inch alloy wheels at the front and 17-inch alloy wheels at the rear. For braking, disc brakes have been provided at the front and rear.

Finally
Looking at the BMW F 450 GS, it is clear that the company is preparing to make a practical and versatile adventure bike, suitable for A2 license holders. Its price and launch date have not been given yet, but it is expected to be launched by the end of this year – perhaps again at the EICMA show.
This bike is coming to compete directly with models like KTM 390 Adventure, CFMOTO Ibex 450 and Moto Morini X-Cape – but with its BMW brand value and features, it will probably give a different experience.
